akasurreal
I have tried installing the official fermi drivers, using the pack from tony, and a few others I have found on various sites. I am running the Chameleon RC5 from latest ##### with graphicsenabler=yes. My video card is never detected in system profiler. I only have one resolution option and video is not accelerated. I don't know what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Gringo Vermelho
You should update to 10.6.6 first. The nvidia Quadro driver will only install if your model identifier is MacPro3,1, 4,1 or 5,1. If it isn't, copy the installer from the .dmg to your desktop, right click -> show contents, open distribution.dist in textedit and change the model identifier inside to the one you're using. Save the modified file, now you can run the installer. akasurreal
Thanks guys, but I am already on 10.6.6 and on MacPro5,1. The installer runs fine, just doesn't make any difference. Anything else I can try? Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/245213-gtx460-tried-everything/#findComment-1629893 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Make sure you don't have other injector.kext/device-properties string/dsdt gfx injection conflicting with GraphicsEnabler. Try setting PciRoot=1 in your /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist. akasurreal
Make sure you don't have other injector.kext/device-properties string/dsdt gfx injection conflicting with GraphicsEnabler. Try setting PciRoot=1 in your /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist. Already have PCIRootUID=1 or I can't even install/boot. As far as the other, how do I check for that? Edit: Not sure if this makes any difference but I installed an old 8800GT and removed PCIRootUID and it works fine, but I really want to get the 460 working for obvious reasons, especially for when I dual boot to Win7 for gaming. Edit2: *SOLVED* I think? I put 460 back in now and its working! The only difference I can see is that I took out PCIRootUID! I needed that to even install before though, confused but happy! Now if I can figure out how to get sound working, lol Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/245213-gtx460-tried-everything/#findComment-1629974 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
PCIRootUID will only work with the now obsolete AsereBLN Chameleon variant. If you're using Chameleon 2.0 RC5, it's PciRoot. akasurreal
Hmm, well I was using PCIRootUID and I could see when I booted with -v that it was indeed changing the Root UID to 1 even with RC5. Either way, removing that got my video card to work for some reason, so I am very happy! Been using the build for hours today and its great and stable! Gringo Vermelho
Sorry, you are correct, "PCIRootUID" is still in the code: http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleo...86/boot2/boot.h "PciRoot" works just as well though. LOL oh how I wish that there were other experienced users around to correct me when I'm wrong. Instead here I am, fixing my own mistakes.
