rayzor991
Hello - So I completed the install of 10.6.2, but I keep getting a CPU panic (see image). If I choose -x for safe mode it boots fine (but I have no ethernet, or audio). There are no devices for ether in the System Preferences. I was wondering if someone can help me with the following things: 1. find root cause/solution for the cpupanic (being able to boot without a panic and without going into safemode 2. Help install the correct kext for audio 3. Help installing the correct kext for network 4. Help installing correct/updated video drivers/kexts 4. Confirming that I have the correct video drivers installed. here is my system information (taken from Ubuntu live): Motherboard = P5LD2 http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=gD1ljCkUWy1Y3yMG CPU INFORMATION GenuineIntel, Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00GHz Number of CPUs: 2 CPU clock currently at 3010.748 MHz with 2048 KB cache Numbering: family(15) model(6) stepping(2) Bogomips: 6021.49 Flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe lm constant_tsc pebs bts pni dtes64 monitor ds_cpl cid cx16 xtpr pdcm lahf_lm MEMORY INFORMATION Total memory: 1002 MB Total swap: 2933 MB STORAGE INFORMATION SCSI device - scsi0 Vendor: ATA Model: WDC WD800JD-22LS SCSI device - scsi4 Vendor: SONY Model: DVD-ROM DDU1615 HARDWARE INFORMATION MOTHERBOARD Host bridge Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL Memory Controller Hub (rev 02) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 2580 PCI bridge(s) Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL PCI Express Root Port (rev 02) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev e1) (prog-if 01) Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL PCI Express Root Port (rev 02) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev e1) (prog-if 01) USB controller(s) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) (prog-if 20) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 01) Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) (prog-if 20) ISA bridge Intel Corporation 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 01) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. imbmn
gpu is too old i'm told. support was dropped in 10.6. nevertheless i've seen people do it with much dsdt hacking, which i don't understand yet. mine compiles, but not after messing w/ gpu related stuff. anyway, try nv_disable=1 boot flag. that'll boot everything else except nv kexts, so you still have audio / ethernet etc till you figure it out / swap graphics cards.
