ZeroShift
I can't help you with the GFX issue, but maybe with the Kernel Panic. Can you boot verbose (-v) and take a picture of the panic itself? Or tell us what the panic says? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/243296-kernel-panic-after-update-1066/#findComment-1622643 Share on other sites

Gringo Vermelho
Sorry, I was under the impression that the Fermi cards that work with OS X had been added to nvidia.c in Chameleon Trunk but I've just checked and apparently they haven't. The GPU being unrecognized in System Profiler is just cosmetic though, there is no performance impact. If you have QE/CI then Chameleon GraphicsEnabler has done its job, the rest is up to the drivers. You can check that the correct renderer is being used by running OpenGL Extensions Viewer (google). WhatTheFiber
When you updated did you install a new kernel and remove sleepenabler.kext? That was my largest problem when I updated. Download the 10.6.6 kernel installer by Nawcom. Install the combo update from Apple and then install the Nawcom installer. It will take care of all the work for you. http://prasys.info/2011/01/10-6-6-legacy-kernel-is-out/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/243296-kernel-panic-after-update-1066/#findComment-1624611 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
He has an Intel Core i CPU and Intel X58 chipset, he does not need to run a patched kernel. Please be careful when giving advice. What works for you does not necessarily work for others.
