I've recently built a Hackintosh using the #####/##### method, and its almost fully functional. There remains one curious hiccup though. When playing video, or sometimes when displaying 3d effects (eg, Dashboard splash when adding a widget) the video/effect can become very choppy. With video playback it usually occurs when dragging another window around on the screen; the playback in the Quicktime window then becomes very choppy, sometimes even losing audio sync. I've used this install method on my Gigabyte board (see signature), and video playback there is flawless. There are a few differences in hardware/drivers though:

1) The new board is a G31 chipset board, and the processor is Pentium DC E5500.

2) The new system has VoodooHDA and VoodooPS2 kexts installed.

3) The new system has an 8800GT video card; the Gigabyte board is paired with a Radeon.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, or some suggestions for troubleshooting? This would normally be a minor problem, but I intended this system to be an HTPC.

IRQ conflict? Now that's old skool. I was hoping to avoid a custom DSDT, but if you're right I may not have a choice. I think I'll try playing around with the IRQ assignments in my BIOS first though.

OK, this was fairly simple to resolve. I just unplugged my PS/2 keyboard and trackball, removed the Voodoo PS/2 kext, set up a Bluetooth keyboard, and the video stuttering was gone. I've still got an issue with some of the CoreVideo animations, but I can live with that.
