Gringo Vermelho
VoodooHDA is a community built kernel extension that drives Intel HD spec audio hardware. Current release/development thread is over at the ProjectOSX forum. Boot in safe mode with -x, this disables sound, and you can work from there. If that doesn't work either, boot into single user mode with -s, follow the instructions at the prompt (telling you to run fsck, mount the drive for write access), then delete VoodooHDA from /System/Library/Extensions.
