Hi... I have spent around a week trying to get a webcam to work with the above applications... the cams are seemingly recognized but all I get is a bllack screen... with the exception of Skype on 10.6.5 (Vanilla 10.5)

The cameras in Question are Logitech C270 (UVC 720 HD) tested with reconfigured Anyisightcam.kext. Camera is recognized as i-sight but black screens in all but skype a Genius i Look 300 (not recognized at all...even with macam... and a Genius FaceCam 310 vga cam (this is a mac supported usb cam apparently but black screens again in all the above) opened up maccam and once again not recognized... although it is recognized by the above apps except for imovies

There is no Pram on a hack so the apple troubleshooting fixes serve no purpose... have repaired permissios and done a deep clean with OnyX etc but nothing will right the problem

anyone? Needless to say situation now desperate...

Thanks in advance

That should get you banned pretty quickly.

Make sure you have hardware accelerated graphics (QE/CI) working.

Thanks for your reply.. After 4 weeks I was convinced I was the only one here..So bumping my posts would make no difference at all.. May as well ban myself for all its worth. (This is about my 4th or 5th post here...not a single reply on ANY of them...)

That said - on topic... Not sure what you mean here... I have an NVidia GT 240 on bard and it is using The NVEnabler as well as the Graphics Enabler. I have dual screen, Quartz etc all running perfectly...

Will have a look at this and win or lose with it... thank you at least for taking the time to throw your head round the door and say Hello... Appreciated

UPDATE

This is the very thread I refer to... Have a look at HBK-007... Exact same problem here... Cam works with Skype (possibly MSN Messenger) and Flash but none of the Mac Apps. No one posted a resolution on that threat which is why I started a new one... so no closer to sorting it out unfortunately. Instead of having unknown logitech with a working microphone and black screens I now have iSight with no Mic and black screens.

:)

That made me laugh.

Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you. Except don't use NVEnabler and GraphicsEnabler at the same time.

My webcam works great with everything (on both Leopard and Snow Leopard) I didn't do anything special. It's a Logitech Pro 9000.

I still think it could be a problem between OS X and your video card, not with the camera itself.

:D

It just so happens I have an 8600 GT too... So whenever I get a chance I'll swap the cards and see if it makes any difference at all... GraphicsEnabler was seemingly set y ##### when I installed ##### and without NVEnabler I get Nada... But as mentioned Quartz is working fine and I have webcam in both Skyoe and Flash (on FaceBook)

I didn't think this was going to be the issues since 2 of the cams at least work perfectly with skype and also the Facebook Flash version of Photobooth but just to satisfy myself and rule it out I swapped the N 240 for the 8600 Gt and much as expected...same deal.

I doubt very much that even the 9000 would be any different since,as mentioned, one of the non UVC cams is an out of the box Mac compatible cm and the other the newer C series UVC cams - The C270 Logitech.

Frankly I am puzzled... Don't know if it has to do with my USB kexts as that has been a true hit and miss exercise to get my pen drives etc recognized at all. My USBs seem to be fine now but I have still got issues with wake from sleep and the Web cam mainly... My apple keyboard and Logitech trackball...both USB devices... Webcam too. My firewire Mini DV worked fine in all apps until my baby daughter knocked over my tripod and misaligned the focus mechanism... Seemigly thus for me the OS is telling iChat, photobooth etc only to say hello if firewire is connected... thats what seems to me to be the issue... so all is cool if you want to have a midnight chat in a coal mine with all the lights off... but otherwise.....

No idea how to solve the problem which is why I posted here...
