gyroknight
Help! I installed Ubuntu 11.04, but I didn't need it after a while, and I didn't like GRUB, so I deleted the Ubuntu partitions. Now when I boot up from that hard drive, it says error: partition not found, and it brings me to the grub rescue command line. Is there some way I can make Chameleon boot again? (I have a Windows 7 hard drive that I'm using, and I can access my Mac files from there) Thanks, Gyroknight Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241063-remove-grub-and-restoring-chameleon/ Share on other sites
Alessandro17
Start by fixing your MBR. Follow this guide: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 (FixMbr is what you need) Once in Windows maybe you can add OS X to your Windows bootloader: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 OT: I wish people learned the following: 1)Installing operating systems should only be done by people who know exactly what they are doing. 2)Grub2 is {censored} 3)Ubuntu is always very buggy, thus it is {censored} too. I don't want to use Windows' Bootloader (go Chameleon!) , and the Mac OS X partition is on a different hard drive than the Windows. And I agree with all 3 of your other unrelated points. Gyroknight Well i suggest you to have iatkos 10.5.7 DVD for this.Boot from this DVD and then install chameleon on the mac partition and then reboot.Do not install any other options. Once rebooted you will chameleon loader if not boot again with iatkos and select terminal window and enter the following Diskutil list It will list the harddisk and its partitions.you have to select which partition you installed the chameleon (i.e mac partition) After confirming enter "f 1" - 1 is the partition number and you enter yours and enter "write" - this will write into boot and then enter "update".you will get "machine code updated" You can now exit the terminal by entering "quit" and then "reboot". Now you will get the chameleon bootloader. Let me know this works. I have 2 hard drives, and I don't know what you mean. When I enter "f 1" it says bash 3.2#: f: command not found. Please help!!! gyroknight
Try this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=164809 I did this, and the good news is Chameleon booted up again (except I had to set the EFI as the active partition), but the bad news is I got a kernel panic from trying to boot Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6. Attached is my com.apple.boot.plist and the error message. Please help! Gyroknight PS: I had to change the plist to a text file. com.apple.Boot.txt Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241063-remove-grub-and-restoring-chameleon/#findComment-1625183 Share on other sites
