Lotustar
I am running SL 10.6.2 with a Nvidia 8400GS PCIe 512 GPU (0x06e4) and I can't figure out how to get it to stop saying "I can has model?" in System Profiler. I am using NvKush kext and the card actually works great I have full support in everything even though it does not say I do. I can run final cut pro and have the waves thing when I manage widgets so I assume I have full quartz. Here is what Sys Profiler says: Chipset Model: I Can Has Model? Type: GPU Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 512 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x06e4 Revision ID: 0x00a1 Displays: L1975NW: Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Rotation: Supported Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected I'm so confused here. Where is quartz? And why does it say I can has model? Please help?
Lotustar
**UPDATE** Got it fixed using osx86tools. For anyone else having problems here is what I did: Open osx86tools Click "Add EFI Strings/Boot Flag" Choose GFX strings (top left) Choose custom geforce hex at very bottom of cards list For name input your card. Example - nVidia GeForce 4800 GS VRAM size: 512 (or whatever yours is) Output config: DvI-I/VGA (again, whatever you have) Then choose "Import string to boot editor" at top and then apply at bottom of next window. Restart That's it. Hope this helps someone.

Hagar
ok, what Lotustar actually did was replace one injector type with another for no reason other than to get the cosmetic effect of having the right name in his system profiler, performance is exactly the same, "I can haz model" is what the ancient nvkush kext says when it doesn't have the exact card model in its database. Much messing around for essentially nothing. bosna1234567 as you would quickly have discovered from searching, graphics on sony vaio's generally don't work due to a proprietary display interface.. you can try with nvenabler or one of the other injector types and an external monitor, you might be lucky.
