redlu
I am running MS Office 2004 for mac on JaS os X86 10.4.6 with the 10.4.7 update, but feel it goes really slow, especially when you open a big word file. All other applications, e.g., Firefox, Acrobat are not that slow. Anyone has an idea that what patch I need, or I just need a more powerful PC? BTW, I am running the system on Dell Dimension 4550/P4 2.4G/640M/ATI9600XT Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23965-ms-office-2004-is-slow/ Share on other sites

jtwh20
it's probably office itself as it is running using rosetta - my hackintosh slows to a crawl when i launch entourage or any other app from office, yet other apps using rosetta are not as slow so i think it is microsoft Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23965-ms-office-2004-is-slow/#findComment-159253 Share on other sites
INFNITE
does your Word document have images? I have heard Office under Rosetta have serious performance issues when images are attached to documents. That's the reason why PowerPoint is generally unbearably slow. xtraa
it's probably office itself it's definately office itself That's the reason why PowerPoint is generally unbearably slow. Have you tried the mac compendant to powerpoint - keynote? It is much better eyecandy and intuitive and also faster because universal. You can export your documents to anything that moves, even ppt. A Nonny Moose
Oh, God, don't use PowerPoint for Mac!!! Granted, until Keynote 2, there wasn't a good alternative, but Keynote 2 just kills PowerPoint.
