kaswistry
Hello and thank you very much for reading this! Now, I use a DV2000 Laptop with the following specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHZ 1.5 667 Memory 320 SATA HD Nvidia Go 7200 Webcam Broadcom WiFi card Intel ProVe LAN I got these working on an iDeneb 10.5.7 distro but would prefer Snow Leopard due to the iLife 11 and Facetime app. However, I have several questions to get my hackintosh working. 1) How do I get QE back? I used to have QE with the NVKush kext but Snow wont give me my QE now. -- Resolved. Problem is, certain software like Chess and Frontrow don't work and I don't know why. Any help here? (P.S. I DO have QE. Im sure. I just dont know why some apps won't work. Maybe a 64 bit crash or something?) 2) How do I safely update to 10.6.5? I tried the combo update but It wont give me anything but a kernel panic on my screen. I will try to change to mach_kernel and or legacy and see if that fixes it. I'm trying to reapply 10.6.2 and see if that fixes it and then just apply 10.6.5 after. Any thoughts? 3) For some reason, iPortable is the only Snow distro that worked on my machine without giving me any errors. I understand that it was amde for portability but would you suggest that I could use it as a stable mac platform for everyday use? 4) My trackpad works. It's an ALPS trackpad. Problem is, there's no vertical scroll. Any ideas? It was a SYNAPTICS trackpad for crying out loud Anyway, I managed to fix it already. Vertical scroll Thanks alot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/239624-iportable-questions-i-know-you-can-answer/ Share on other sites
EddiesGames
Just use EmpireEFI + Snow Leopard Retail Disc. That should do the trick. Otherwise try #####, but that's optimized for Core i series, afaik. The kernel panic related to the 10.6.5 update is most likely related to SleepEnabler.kext. Just make sure you delete that before you reboot and then search for the updated version on kexts.com. To get QE back try using GraphicsEnabler set to yes in com.apple.boot.plist. It's very easy to configure using this specific Chameleon build: http://www.kexts.com/view/676-chameleon_v2.0-rc5_r650.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/239624-iportable-questions-i-know-you-can-answer/#findComment-1600527 Share on other sites

I read the manual that came with iPortable and copied all the video kext files that were removed from the packaged and reinstalled Nvkush. It's working now. Problem is, certain software like Chess and Frontrow don't work and I don't know why. Any help here? I can't really use the Empire EFI + Snow Disc. Ive tried that before but either I get a KP or an ACPI platform error. This is the only thing that worked for me. And I checked the Extensions for SleepEnabler.kext. No file named like that there. Will still try to look for solutions but if you have any, Im willing to try anything.
