colordeficiency
Currently running on a AMD 64 5200+ looking to switch to Intel, gonna go for a P35-DS3L board... Wondering if OSX fully supports Pentium Dual-Core? Namely E6500? By full support, I mean both cores or must I get a Core 2 Duo? Please advise... Please advise... 10.6 is running well on Intel Dual-Core processors too... e.g. E6500... If you're finding an apple like board, you should find P35-xxxx with an ALC889 audio chip... Next time google is your friend.... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/238975-cpu-support/#findComment-1597946 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Out of the CPUs in the thread title, the E8400 is the fastest and most full featured one. They should be cheap by now? The E8500 is a little better, value for money wise. At least it was when I bought mine, I don't know what the prices are like now. I recommend the P45 chipset rather than P35. There are lots of nice, compatible boards from Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI with that chipset. But the P35-DS3L you're looking at is fine too, there are several install guides for it here on IM. Visit the threads to get a general idea about what CPUs people are using with that board.
