What is the expert consensus on the iPC distribution? Is it secure/safe to use? Are there better distributions? It seems to be pretty easy to install if your hardware is supported.

the securest way is to install osx vanilla.

so specify your hardware, then it would be easier to be helped.

If you "must" install a distribution, the best idea is to choose a recent one.

Regardless of other considerations, iPC is 10.5.6, which is 2 years old.

What's a decent new distribution? I would try to do a retail install, but with hardware as old as mine, I'm not sure that's possible.

Recent distributions are Snow Leopard by Hazard or iAtkos S3 V2.

However I hadn't realized you have such an old laptop.
