Migration question

Hi everyone. First, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question! I didn't know quite where to put this query, so if it's in the wrong location, I certainly do apologize.

I've been running on a custom OSx86 machine for about a year now, running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on a hackintosh running on a P5K ASUS motherboard and such. Of course, as we all know, this takes lots of tweaking to the kext files, and other additions of a bootloader and such. I've been diligently keeping the machine backed up using an external drive and Time Machine.

Fast forward to today, when I'm planning to be purchasing an actual macbook soon. I'd like to clone my machine over to my new macbook, and as such I'm thinking about using the Migration Assistant/Time Machine in order to move all my files and programs over to the new machine.

Will doing this cause a world of hurt, because all the custom kext files are going to make the macbook go bonkers? Basically, I'm wondering if I can be lazy and use Time Machine to restore things, or if I'm going to have to suck it up and to the manual work of moving all those files!

Thanks for any help in advance.

I think it depends on how customized your hackintosh is. If it is a retail version with only kexts modified, what prevents you from copying original mac kexts somewhere, restoring the full system from time machine and then copying original kexts instead of the restored? And if /extra exists, then it should be deleted of course. If you have non-retail, then you'd better copy your /users and /applications folders to macbook and be happy.

But frankly speaking i don't think that restoring system from a computer with absolutely different configuration to macbook is a good idea.

I used Migration assistant over network to move from G/W running iAtkos10.5.8 to a new MacBook Pro. You should be able to choose what is moved.
