Moop
With the release of the Mac Pro and the Intel Xserve, the only machines on Apple's product line that can come with Mac OS X Server pre-installed, this marks the introduction of Mac OS X Server into the world of Intel. I'm wondering, does anyone have any word at all as to how easy it'll be to slap together a server and slap Mac OS X Server 10.4 (I'm assuming 10.4.7) on it? lounger540
I was immediatly thinking the same thing. I admin a group of about 4 Mac video editing stations, and as much as I would like an xserve raid, they are just stupidly expensive. I could build a 2TB raid on decent server hardware for 1/5 as much but Linux is a {censored} to admin and I'm leaving this year and dumping Linux on some one who might not know computers well would mean disaster. Hacking OS X server onto a home made raid file server would be saweeeet. Black Knight
One more thing I noticed about the Xserves is that they come with an ATI X1300 card which up until now, there haven't been any drivers for in OS X. Maybe someone could do a Boris hack on these as well as I know several people have X1300s in their laptops.
