Disk size and OS selector problem

Hi guys and girlz,

My computer: Pentium IV - 1.5 sse2, radeon 9600 128, 512 Mb mem, SiS stuff onboard

Installation: 10.4.6 JaS on second primary partition on harddisk together with Win XP, id=AF, size=79 Gb

Problem: OSX installation recognized the partition as 45 Gb, OS selector doesn't see a system on it while it did on a previous attempt, but that wasn't on a primary partition by mistake. I did a clean-operation before install, I installed all necessary patches and also tried to write a new mbr on the partition (rdisk0-6 or something). So perhaps I can't do a mbr write like that (on the partition which is a primary one)?

Thanks for your advice, supernov

i Think its just a disk error, once my disk was recognised by os x and by windows as having a 4.26 TB free space (i wish i had it tho) i just cleaned the whole disk and voilav back to my good old 250 gb drive

Mmm, could be. I notice that at every try, partitionmagic or osx is not always handling things quite right. I'll give it a complete format again. :)

What I noticed in a previous attempt was that osx simply couldn't see past a certain part of my harddisk, it missed the partition completely which I created at the end of my harddisk.

For those of you experiencing similar problems; try the following guide, it's been more succesfull then any attempt I tried before, funny thing is that at each attempt I gradually was trying the same things... not that stupid after all. :( This guide however seems to reduce my trial and errors by days and works for quite a lot of people, it should be a sticky!
