Ok I am at my whits end so maybe you call all help me. This is the second hackintosh ive done and have had the worst luck compared to my first one 1-2 years ago. For starters I will give you my specs and install method:

CPU - Q9400

HD - (2) 500GB WD 7200RPM

VIDEO - ATI 4850

MOBO - Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

RAM - 4GB DDR2 800

BIOS SETTINGS - ACHI, plus HPET 64-BIt selected

Install DVD - 10.6.2/10.6.3 SSE Hazard

I am able to boot from the disk and partition the HD and go through the normal options of installing the OS. The OS finished successful but upon rebooting I get a kernal panic saying there is a CPU and Kernal Mismatch. Here are my questions:

1. What is the kernal panic and how can I fix it?

2. What options should I select before installation based on my specs listed above.

3. I tried using a retail DVD on a usb drive (done on my macbook) but couldnt restore the DVD to my usb drive because of disk utility errors--I tried everything BTW

Lastly any help is surely appreciated. I am quite busy so I did not get enough time to search this site individually for answers even though I tried everything I could find on google. If you need to cut and past thats fine!

Thanks,

Cole

Have you tried using Kakewalk to install this EP45 moboard? You didn't mention your installation procedure? Kakewalk uses the RETAIL bootable MacOS X DVD for guaranteed upgradeability.

I am not sure what kakewalk is, however I do have some additional information. I am know able to get to the apple splash screen with the spinning wheel. Homwever after a few seconds a black screen comes up telling me to restart or shutdown. After restarting I get a CMOS Checksum error and my bios settings return to default. Any ideas

Ok using kakewalk I am up and running, everything seems to work except the following:

1. Audio is not working - says no output devices found. I have tried various kexts and nothing is working, I need help.

2. Also it seems like my computer is louder, could there be som fan/temp settings that need to be fixed?
