Hi...

I have recently upgraded my 10.6.4 to 10.6.5 due to concerns about my diaplay monitor and graphic card detection. Hence after i did that... i am able to log into the system using the chemeleon bootloader into Snow Lepord... after i press the option ... a white screen with an Apple logo appears and a constant busy signal appears.. and after some time... the message "Please hold the power button down and shut down the computer.... " - i understand this is a kernel panic.. but when i put in the iDisk 2.5 given in the tonymacx86 blog it logs into the system perfectly but does not recognise the graphic card and the dual monitor setup...

Hope that it could use some help from the experts at this forum...

thanking you

Rajesh

I think you must use qoopz kernel and not vanilla and:

Do you use applehda (if yes try to remove it)? Did you remove sleepenabler (if no do it)?

after boot with -f.

i have installed the mach_kernel from qoopz but i cannot fine neither the applehda(I dont use it) nor the sleepenabler(i dont find it) ... for my system...

Could you please guide me to any method of how i can do it.. i am trying to restart the system with my retail disk in it and go thru terminal to get it...

hi,

i used the Macdrive software to log into windows and then did the search for sleepenabler.kext..

i could not find it.

I deleted the AppleHDA.kext using the macdrive software...

even though the mach-kernel is installed into the system. i am still not able to log into mac partition... without the idisk ...

the problem is 10.6.4 used to usually log in without any discs... but when i updated using the graphics combo or the 10.6.5 update ... i am facing the same problem.... could that be the problem of the graphic card...

Boot with -v to see where exactly the kernel panic happens.

thank you ....

i have done a -v at the boot when i have a boot loader thru harddisk... chemeleon2.0 rc4

it loads for some time and then after that stops at the place where it says

NTFS driver 3.3 [Flags: R/w]

NTFS Volume name, Version 3.1

i after waiting for a couple of minutes i pressed the power button and then i get a kernel panic... and i have included the panic message as a attachment... Hope you could understand and get something out of it.

It seems like when you pressed the power button it tryed to go to sleep.

Could you boot in windows again and find in your mac drive private/var/log/kernel.log and post it hear ?

Yes you are exactly right i did that as the system seemed to have halted for a lot of time approximately about 20 minutes to start up...

but when i run the system with the ##### DVD in the drive i get the system to load up perfectly. as per your request i have attached the Kernel.log(masked it as a .rtf file for uploading purpose) file from the location.

I also have to mention that the situation(everythign loaded up fine.. but the graphics was crappy...) was perfect for 10.6.4 but after i installed graphics update combo 1.0 / 10.6.5 i started getting this problem....

thank you for your input...

kernel.rtf

Did you back up your extensions before installing the updates?

Are you on vanilla kernel or legacy ?

And are you using chameleon bootloader?

yes i did back up... i have been using chememeon bootloader from the start... and now i just did not uninstall anything and just took the legacy_kernel-10.5.0.pkg and installed it. it took care of the arch=i386 -force64 option and other... but i have the same problem as before,.... the system logs unto a specific point and then halts with no processes running in any manner...

i have checked the -v function tooo but no use...

below is the link i got the package from .... the same link as shared to me... by David23...

I'm using the same kernel without problems.

Did you try just arch=i386 ?

Did you try to restore your old kexts?

This is what I did. I too had kernel panics. I restored my old kexts. And then installed the 10.6.5 kexts by groups of 10 until I found which where causing the panic.

yes i tried that.... with jsut arch-i386 it does not work.

i have to restore the old kexts by time machine only is it that you are asking me to use a program like pacifier to open up the 10.6.5 and then install the update... instead of directly installing it...

I am sorry... i am really new to the hackintosh and to mac itself... I was a good windows user before this...

I will try it... but my graphics are only better in after the 10.6.5 i would do my best to do that or find other options...

thanks for your time.... i really appreciate it.....

Rajesh...

No problem man, you don't need to apologize. It took me a lot of time too to get 10.6.5 working. I just hope i can help you.

What I'm saying is restore the old kexts from 10.6.4 and try to boot.

If it boots in mac os then you can extract just the kexts from the 10.6.5 with pacifist.

Then you can install the kexts you need for you the graphics kexts and then try installing some other kexts until you find the one that causes the KP.

when i try to open pacifist it says i am missing some very important files...

ERROR:

Sorry, one or more of the following command-line tools was not found:

/usr/bin/lsbom, /bin/pax, /bin/mkdir, /bin/chmod, or /usr/bin/update_prebinding.

These tools are required to run this program. Check to see that they are all present on your system.

how do i get my system to replinish these files ... how do o get hold of them....

even after using ##### with a custom patched dsdt for i7 - 950 i could not get it to boot after a partiular point. I will try to post only the messages till the point ti loads and not the point when I press the power button giving me a KP that includes commands for sleep....

@David23, @apatsufas, @westwaerts thank you very much for your time and your input...I am really sick and tired of doing the reinstall for the 4 time.... that is complete reinstall from scratch not keeping in mind the countless retriving from back ups....

i dont think i can keep all my settings and as they are presently now... and my internet connection is so slow that it take about 3 hours to download something like a apple update... take that for dropbox, evernote and all those services i use.... it might just take another day or two of full syncying and doing nothing else... so i guess i would just keep working with the ##### CD in my drive and work from it...

Same problem with me:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=238590

Seems that due to a video driver problem.

When 10.6.4, I use Graphicsenable to active my video card. A dumped BIOS file of video card shoule be under the /Extra directory, and file com.apple.Boot.plist should added

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>yes</string>

<key>UseNvidiaROM</key>

<string>yes</string>

<key>VBIOS</key>

<string>Yes</string>

But now at 10.6.5, the BIOS file is not needed any more. Just delete the dumped BIOS file, and the code above in the file com.apple.Boot.plist become like this,

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>yes</string>

Then everything is OK now.

I dont have a dumped BIOS file in the EXTRA folder... i deleted all the contents of the extra folder and then added the ##### options for audio and graphics card and all that... and then changed my mach_kernel with the legacy kernel version...

below is the picture of where it stops loading up and forces me to restart...

i also used the -v -f option but ti did not yield any result different from that... except showing the initial loading screens... for the kexts...

I'm also having this problem. It stuck at the ntfs bla bla bla, and then it will rebooted. What i do now to pass it is by booting using Nawcom CD v0.3 to boot in using -f -v busratio and cpus. That's the only way i could pass the problem. I'm looking to use the Legacy_kernel_10.6.5. probably that can work. :)

I'm taking back my post back up there, cause its actually working great! my AMD Phenom x2 555BE SL 10.6.5 working great now, with my 450gts also working with its resolution.

Having difficulties with the broken USB at first, luckily Nawcom tutorial on how to get the USB support back help me A LOT! Wanna kiss you nawcom.

hi i have seen on various occasions that the files from the extra folder are not uploaded...

a few days ago i actually followed a manual to install some files to the EFI partition ... and now i think that it might be the problem.. as when i installed the legacy_kernel from the link given, i dont see it being loaded rather the mach_kernel loads up... while my com.apple.Boot.plist file directs to the legacy_kernel ...... can i change the files and which files do i need to change in that drive...how do i do it...

could any of you please look into it...and guide me to a guide that explains it in some clarity...
