Java Duke
OK, so I got this - 10.4.6, Radeon 9200, Callisto, AppleI386PCI kext, the card is being recognized as AGP, but no CI/QE - I'm wondering if I need any of those to play DVDs? So far DVD player just shows an error message "A valid video device could not be found for playback [-70017]". VLC just crashes. Any idea? Thanks a lot, JD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23720-dvd-playback/ Share on other sites
Baliw
Maybe you need to try Koverg's patch, to enable QE/CI just search the forum. HTH Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23720-dvd-playback/#findComment-157248 Share on other sites
Java Duke
AFAIK Koverg's patch won't work on 9200. So far if I enable any of the ATIRadeon, ATIRadeon8500 or ATIRadeon9700, I get a kernel panic. Callisto and AppleI386PCI alone work fine though, I get 1600x1200x32 and it's recognized as an AGP card. Cr0n_J0b
I'm sort of in the same boat. I have a 9800PRO working great with the Callisto drivers, but I can't seem to get the DVD to work. When I launch it i get an error. Here is what it says. Command: DVD Player Path: /Applications/DVD Player.app/Contents/MacOS/DVD Player Parent: WindowServer [75] Version: 4.6.5 (4.6.5) Build Version: 29 Project Name: DVDPlayer Source Version: 46500507 PID: 478 Thread: 0 Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23720-dvd-playback/#findComment-157305 Share on other sites
Guest goodtime
1st step to DVD Playback: In your XXXXGA.plugin, change "IONDRVFramebuffer" to "CallistoFB" reboot. You should now have 2D Accel. (Note: Notice how I did not say Accel OpenGL or QE) So far all I can get a 2D Accel. only. Now VLC 0.8.4 Intel Version should be able to play DVDs. Also, The CallistoFB GA.plugin edit is not currently compatible with AGPGART.
