It did for me. More specifically, my ethernet cable was plugged into my NIC, but system prefs told me my cable was not plugged in. Fortunately I backed up my 10.6.3 kext. Only thing I needed to do was replace IONetworkingFamily.kext with my 10.6.3 one. It is located in /System/Library/Extensions, but you probably already knew that. I am also assuming that you've edited the AppleIntel8255x.kext info.plist file to include your vendor and device IDs as needed.

Anyways, once you replace IONetworkingFamily.kext, run KextUtility if you don't know the proper terminal commands. Restart and pray. I've uploaded the files I used for your convenience. Be aware that you will likely need to add your ven/dev IDs as mentioned above.

Hope this helps.

P.S. If you are having trouble seeing your Intel Pro/100 VE NIC to begin with, follow this guide. Follow that tutorial but do not run the sudo commands and repair permissions. Instead, run the attached KextUtility.

My post, with its attachments and specifics, is a little more suited for newbies. Anything else constructive you would like to say?
