If people do reply, then it is difficult to follow the discussion. The ATI Radeon 4670 should work with the built-in kexts and a recent version of Chameleon. Your com.apple.Boot.plist should have GraphicEnabler = yes. Which input are you using, DVI or VGA? Your com.apple.Boot.plist should have GraphicEnabler = yes. Which input are you using, DVI or VGA? Nope, it's not : I have Gigabyte HD4670 + Chameleon RC5 (trunk 650+) . It's here. I always get KP on Mac OS X 10.6.3 - 10.6.5 . For now, i deleted all ATI kexts for my card. Now im at s****y & buggy graphics at 1400*1050*32 resolution . I don't know which framebuffer should i use for this card, so i can't just test all of them. Hazzarrds version of Mac working great with 10.6.2 but if i update it - KP. iAtkos S3(v2) sometimes spins forever, sometimes KP, sometimes total s*** of Apple logos. As i read all of the forums : * I just need boot file ( boot_flicker didn't help ) and stock kexts or * modded kexts with Chameleon or AnVAL or * different framebuffer ( correct boot file) OR * Modded injector ( I tried EVOenabler - just black screen, ATY_Init - KP Oh yes, im using VGA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236943-working-kext-for-gigabyte-hd-4670/#findComment-1604981 Share on other sites
dickhouse
Just use kabyl latest boot file and with stock SL 10.6.5 and you are good to go! I have to extract manual of these files *ATI Framebuffer, ATIX2000, ATI4600Controller, ATISupport* from mac osx 10.6.5 update and i use DVI output with Aticonfig Flicker (Default detection) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236943-working-kext-for-gigabyte-hd-4670/#findComment-1605068 Share on other sites

dickhouse
How about VGA ( or DVI-VGA ) ? My ASUS VW222S don't have DVI port NP! but you'll never get native res support. for ex; i have 23 and 18.5 inch monitor, in 4:3 aspect the res is NP but in 18.5 monitor i dont get 1360x768 (which is my max native res monitor) or try another framebuffer eulemur / motmot. PPreMiuMM
The last question : Do you use Graphics Enabler or not ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236943-working-kext-for-gigabyte-hd-4670/#findComment-1606279 Share on other sites
Monkey D. Luffy
You should try different framebuffers like motmot or peregrine. If you compile your own boot file, try using "aserebln 1.1.9" or "mozodojo" sources then compile. I have 3 computers that run hackintosh. All of my PC have ATI video cards. 1 x 4670, 1 x 4650, 1 x 4550 and it is different from each other in terms of framebuffers to enable DVI/VGA or HDMI. For example, in order to enable DVI on my 4670, I had to use Peregrine. On the same card, enabling VGA it uses Motmot. On my 4650, Flicker enables DVI and Motmot enables VGA. My friends' 4650 Flicker enables DVI/HDMI, Peregrine enables VGA. On my 4550, Peregrine enables DVI and Flicker enables HDMI. I haven't tested VGA. So it only means that every card has different combinations (based on my experience) to make it work. All these framebuffers works on 10.6.4. I'm on 10.6.5 but I can't make it to work with vanilla kext. On my 4550, 10.6.5 worked but I used the ATIRadeonX2000.kext from netkas with Vanilla kext. 4670/4650 did not work with netkas ATIRadeonX2000.kext, I'm still using 10.6.4 vanilla kext. Also, Apple started supporting 4xx0 cards on 10.6.2. As far as I remember, there are times that updating the system like 10.6.3/10.6.4, old framebuffers won't work again. So you have to do trial and error again everytime you update. I suggest that if you have a spare HDD to use, start from scratch. Start updating to 10.6.2 and from there do a one step at a time updating to .3 .4 .5. Make sure every time you update, back up the ATIRadeon2000.kext, ATI4600Controller.kext, ATISupport.kext, ATIFramebuffer.kext. Since you have a 4670, you don't need to inject your device id anymore. Vanilla kext should work. You can only make your 4670 work with the right boot file using different framebuffers AND output ports (HDMI,VGA,DVI, using dongles etc). ALSO, backup OpenCL.framework, OpenAL.framework, OpenGL.framework from the /System/Library/Frameworks folder. This is not necessary, but I suggest you do it just incase. I remembered that there was a time I needed these framework files when I combined older ATI kext with newer OpenGL/AL/CL framework files. DO NOT USE any injectors. Use vanilla all the way. The reason I suggest you start from scratch is maybe, your kext has been tampered already. I remembered that there are also suggestion plugging adapters to make it work. Like DVI to VGA or DVI to HDMI, etc. You might also need to consider doing that too. Good luck. EDIT: My sig is already obsolete. Don't mind it. PPreMiuMM
I'm giving up on this.. Mac OS X is not for this card. Even if it's in iMac it's not alright.. Tried bunch of configs.. Only one config with EvoEnabler + ATY_Init + 10.6.2 works fine... Vanilla ISNT working.. No boot file is working . Neither framebuffers. My hands are down. I rather go buy iMac ..
