Rafa tha cool
I bought my 1101ha with the intention of running osx on it and since I got on my hands I started searching and making things going. Because I don't have a Mac machine or access to one I had to go ahead and toy with VirtualMachine on Windows so I could do the usb bootdisk. I used iAtkos and it did the trick. I was able to make the bootable pendrive (or in my case, portable disk) using netbookinstaller to install chameleon RC2 NBI. I was following this guide but when I got to the part of installing chameleon it confused me so later on tried netbookinstaller and it was way easier. Freaky notes's guide was really what got me going and the source of the extra folder so big huge shout out to him. After installing OSX (wich I did with Wifi and sound disable on the bios) I failed to get wi-fi working no matter how many kexts or methods I used until I searched a bit and found this post by cairo_s: Well, maybe i can help u guys. See, i bought a PCI-e TPlink WN781N with an Atheros AR9285 Chipset. So, i did the following steps: 1st - I've got a brand new SL installation and 2nd - updated it to 10.6.4. 3rd - then, i got a IO80211Family.Kext from 10.6.5 beta (click to download =]) 4th - installed it with Kext Utility 2.3.2 5th - after the kext installation, i went to system profile, clicked on Airport and, guess what, it's working. Well, this is all, maybe it'll help you guys. Worked like a charm, big UP to cairo_sc. By now I still didn't had any sound. Downloaded the lastest voodoohda.kext with kext utility, deleted the applehda.kext, rebooted, enabled sound in the bios and now I have sound. The overall performance of my system (stock 1101ha) it's pretty usable but I expect to see a significantly performance boost when I change the hard-drive and install 2Gb of RAM. The only thing that is really getting to me is the trackpad. The tracking doesn't feel natural and I have no 'tap to click' nor scroll, it's really anoying. Does anyone know how to get the trackpad working properly ? I tried voodoo's kext but gives me a panic kernel. All credit goes to freaky notes, prasys, cairo_sc and insanelymac. jbbrs
How did you upgrade to 10.6.4? When I tried with the vaio patch script, after rebooting I kept getting a device timeout, and OSX would never finish booting waiting for the root device. I had to reinstall, and am now a bit afraid of trying the upgrade again. Never mind, I managed to update. The problem was when I updated to 10.6.5, the atheros wifi stopped working. It still sees networks and associates without problems, but it won't get a ip address. More stuff to check... I has wifi working in 10.6.4 with the WIFI_AR9285.zip file from kexts.com. Another thing that still doesn't work well is the hd - I still can't get it recognized as SATA. Another update, wifi still works - but only 802.11G, 802.11N doesn't work in 10.6.5 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236723-asus-eeepc-1101ha-the-way-i-did-it-and-what-needs-work/#findComment-1600894 Share on other sites
