bean5
a friend was going to trash his computer, so I asked him if I could try hackintoshing it. It has an intel d915gev motherboard on it and I did a search here to see if it was compatible. I found that it is hackintoshible but I can't find instructions on how to do it. Any help? I tried doing the recent tonymacx86+##### method, but that requires you put the sata in ahci mode...I can't find that option in the bios. Please help. thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236598-old-hardware-instructions-d915gev/ Share on other sites
Dellmantt
As you were requested in another post, please list components, CPU,GPU etc etc. Also check if there is a bios upgrade for that board And a search would not hurt either http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&...q=&gs_rfai= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236598-old-hardware-instructions-d915gev/#findComment-1579192 Share on other sites
bean5
um...this is the first time I've brought this up in any post. CPU is a pentium e5700. Using the onboard graphics chip, a gma900. Bios has been updated to most recent update. Like I said, I did a search and only found that it can be done, but not how. bean5
appreciate the help. So far, I can only get the apple boot logo to display (light gray with dark gray apple) and it'll just hang on that. Boot verbose "- v" without the quotes post picture(best) or list the last few lines & is it the installer or the installed system that is doing this. Dellmantt
best I could do. Screen goes blank. rd0s1.. so its booting from your hard drive? reading mach_kernel in Extra? What install method did You use? the last few lines I can't read. Something controller? Which means it can't use the hard drive or DVD controller, is it IDE or SATA? bean5
@dothacker total noob here (my experience so far is following last year's lifehacker build to the T), but what would I have to do for the kalyway install? I have leopard retail disk (10.5.1). Going to kalyway's website just gives me a donation splash screen. @dellmantt well, here's the thing, the bios is old, so first off I can't find a place to switch to ahci mode. The optical drive is connected through ide. Hard drive is connected by sata. I followed the myhack instructions and got the install disk with the installer on a thumbdrive. When I set it to boot from the thumb drive, I get a message that says no bootable media. So I used ##### or whatever it's called, and that lets me boot up from the thumb drive. Then blank screen. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236598-old-hardware-instructions-d915gev/#findComment-1579244 Share on other sites
Dellmantt
Not sure myhack works with Leopard, I have only used it with Snow Leopard Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236598-old-hardware-instructions-d915gev/#findComment-1579248 Share on other sites

bean5
awesome, thanks for the help. I just got home and followed above instructions. Currently I'm on the install screen and it's installing to the hard drive. What will I have to do after it finishes installing? (besides running installer after reboot on the harddrive) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236598-old-hardware-instructions-d915gev/#findComment-1579797 Share on other sites

When it install before restart run the Myhack app that should now have a copy on the "Install" USB. Try same options and change destination to the internal hard drive. bean5
install took a long time. On reboot, when I try to boot into the harddrive using the chameleon screen, it kicks back saying can't find legacy_kernel. What do now? Also, it gave me the installation failed message. edit: SO, I did this: removed hdd, connected it to this computer and ran the installer on it. Put it back on old pc, and it booted up. Now,what do i have to do from here? Any other modifications? It connects to the internet, but right now I can only display 1024X768. Also, should i run the latest combo update? bean5
well I got it to boot on its own now without using a thumbdrive. I checked the stuff above and it's there. My problem now is that I only get 1024x768 res and no audio. The board has gma900 integrated graphics chip. What do I do from here? bean5
I was a few steps ahead of you, but I felt I would ask just in case I couldn't find anything. Now, I'm looking for the audio kexts, but I can't seem to find anything. The board has an "intel high definition Audio Subsystem using the Realtek ALC860 audio codec." I'll keep looking, but nothing so far. THanks for all the help though, I really appreciate it. Dellmantt
One last question: can I update to 10.6.4 using the combo update? Or is there going to be a problem? This is from a guide I wrote for different system should work for your specs UPDATE to 10.6.4 -- Don't update via Software Update If you have 10.6.0-10.6.2 download the combo update here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048?viewlocale=en_US If you have 10.6.3 you can get away with the slightly smaller update here http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1049. Download the 10.6.4 Legacy Kernel from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=221599 Run the 10.6.4 update but DON"T RESTART Run MyHack installer (same settings as above)-DON"T RESTART Run 10.6.4 Legacy Kernel installer-RESTART Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236598-old-hardware-instructions-d915gev/#findComment-1579912 Share on other sites
