blasteryui
Hey guys.. I have a 64bit amd Compaq laptop with an Ati 4200 card. My pc has the specs to run os x, but my question is what setup should I do? I'm installing with iatkos s3, but I can't get it to work.. which kernal do I choose, bootloader, etc? I've tried installing it 3 different times and it doesn't ever boot up. dothacker
I dont think iatkos supports AMD, as previous people tried doing it, including me. Try iDeneb, or if you're wanting snow leopard, do the retail route. I was also wanting snow because it's new.. and I have a atheros wireless card and apparantly updating to 10.6.5 allows my card to work, so you're using ideneb and it works? I'll download ideneb, what settings should I select. stargazer418
iAtkos does indeed support AMD, you just need to use the Qoopz 10.3.0 kernel with Chameleon RC4 bootloader. I'm typing this on an AMD PC running iAtkos S3 version 2. I erased my iatkos disc and put ideneb, then installed ideneb, ideneb works great.. but iatkos was snow.. but using qoopz works? I had a feeling considering that's what I used for this. But everywhere says iatkos is for intel... are you positive? Because it says no AMD and such. stargazer418
I've successfully installed both iAtkos v7 and s3 v2 on an AMD PC. Maybe s3 version 1 was Intel only, but s3 version 2 works. Okay quick question, can I update to 10.6.5 via software update? Or how do I update from 10.6.2/3. stargazer418
I'm not sure, but I think there is a new kernel installed after updating, so I think you would need to back up the current kernel and use that to boot up, then edit the com.apple.boot.plist to use the new kernel. If I'm wrong, someone please post and tell me. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236524-help-with-installing/#findComment-1579179 Share on other sites
