Gideonn
Ok so this is truly my first venture into the world of Macs... I hadnt touched one in about 20 years prior to today. Ive been fighting it trying to avoid having to ask for help but after all of the reading research and time I simply dont know what else to do... Here is my install setup: ASUS Rampage III Intel i7 950 12 Gigs of Cosair Ram OCZ 120 Gig SSD 5770 XFX ATI Video Card Initially I was having issues even formatting a drive. I found a post that mentioned using an External USB SATA drive mount to both format and install Snow Leopard. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...unmounting+disk So I got past that now it simply wont boot. Ive found a number of posts referencing booting using various switches but honestly I dont know what any of it does. And since Im not getting an error message I cant do my own research. When I try to boot to the drive the screen turns white and has the Apple logo but after a period of time a circle w/ a line through it appears. I am using the ##### loader and for the most part have followed this tutorial: http://lifehacker.com/5672051/how-to-build...ne=true&s=i Any help ANYONE can provide would greatly be appreciated! Thanks, Gideonn Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236438-i7-950asus-rampage-iiiocz-ssd/ Share on other sites
Hangten
boot with -v -x Type this in when you get on to the Chameleon screen. Depending on the Chameleon version installed you will see the typed command on the lower left bottom of your screen this should give you an idea where your install is failing. Not to sound like the total noob I am but how do I initiate entering the switches? When I put the ##### disk in I don't ever see a prompt I can enter them at? Gideonn
OK so I have been able to get this to boot but only w/ the ##### disk and when my system disk is attached via the USB SATA drive adapter. If I have the system boot w/o the ##### disk I see the chameleon bootloader then the screen goes black and nothing happens. Using the ##### and having the System SSD attached via the USB Adapter I have been able to complete all of the updates, kexts, ##### etc but for some reason this is still not recognizing my SATA controller. I am unsure of how to go about fixing this, as I said earlier I am a complete noob when it comes to Mac's/Hackintosh's. Although pretty oldhat when it comes to PC and general computer trouble shooting. I've tried a number of trouble shooting techniques including booting off of the USB adapter and plugging in a separate SATA drive to see if I can get OSX to recognize the controller but each time I plug in an SATA drive other then the CD ROM (ANY HARD DRIVE) it locks up at the desktop. I really don't know how to proceed from this point. ANY help you can provide or general direction you can give I would GREATLY APPRECIATE! Thank you for your time!!! Thanks again! Hangten
List what kext's you have in your E/E. Once you get to your desktop with USB/SATA method then reinstall Chameleon. Make sure you have the E/E folder and if not create it and put your kext's in the Extensions folder, com.apple.Boot.plist, smbios.plist, Themes Try the AHCIPortinjector.kext and the IOAHCIBlockstorageInjector, kext place in the E/E Here is the AHCIPortinjector Look for the other one, kext.com Last use the kext utility to build your mkext de link. Be patient you will figure it out. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236438-i7-950asus-rampage-iiiocz-ssd/#findComment-1579298 Share on other sites
