LS,

I'm trying to setup a new i7 hackintosh machine for myself; I have some previous experience with my wife's P5N-E SLI, which is running 10.6.4 for quite some time now (with great help from existing topics on this forum of course :)).

It cost me quite some time and effort to setup the previous machine and I'd like to keep it to a minimum this time; I found out that for the C2D series there were some (near) 100% vanilla motherboards out there but I can't seem to find any for the i7 series. I did find out about two boards:

Asus P6T SE - Just a few kexts, but not enough connections to my taste (and it's quite pricy for the features it does have)

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R - Excellent feature/price ratio, excellent support, but there's a rev2 with quite some issues I believe;

Which motherboard would you advise if you were in my position (and what about OS X Lion, should I worry about that as well)?

Thank you in advance for your time :D.

I like! Look and see if the Audio and Lan are all compatible and guess what? They are!

I was thinking the 889a audio would be better, just poke around and see the specs.

Solid builds as well, Thanks tonymac

Some of the older X58 will be able to run SL 10.5.7 and 10.6.x but you need to be aware of CPU support and such.

The i5 LGA1156 is for newer SL 10.6.3 or later considering when Apple started using them. Sense you already hackintosh should be easy to setup Vanilla. You can configure your disk right on your already running OS X machine.

Go here should have all setups for Gigabyte minions, Im of the EVGA X58 clan.

Im eyeing getting one of these just to have 100% sleep but don't use sleep anyways.
