jreitter
Hey! I just finished with my HackPro and i tried to install the Nvidia Mac driver for the GTX285. But it says: “This driver update is only supported on Mac Pro (mid-2010) systems.” System Profiler tells me that i have an iMac '11 ... can i change that in any ways, or how do i get my GTX 285 working. I need the GPU acceleration for Adobe Premiere Pro. Thanks!

The same could be achieved via SMBIOS.plist, however it may not work as good as the above method. If adding the value to SMBIOS.plist DO NOT ADD MacPro4,1 - may result KP. Gringo Vermelho
There's a thread about that driver here somewhere, full of tips on how to get around the installation requirements. In the same thread you can also read about the unfortunate experiences of some users who installed the driver, including me. The driver does not work for everyone. Anyway The easiest way to get it to install, is to edit a file (something.dist, I don't remember) inside the driver installer mpkg, changing the required model identifier so that it matches whatever you're using. Then you can just run the installer and reboot. No need to faff around with smbios.plist or other important files.
