Hello, I had received an HP Pavilion dm4 series laptop for my Birthday last summer. So I finally decided that I wanted to try to install Snow Leopard on it. So I have downloaded a .dmg file of Snow Leopard Client Edition. I burned the client edition on a DL DVD and the DVD is bootable. The only thing I am not sure about is, if my laptop is 100% compatible or if it will even work. I have tried searching on google and I found some sites with compatible components for Snow Leopard. Here is a list of my system specs for my Laptop. Also if it isn't what kexts would I need in order for me to install Snow Leopard and which boot CD Should I use. I tried nawcomMOD CD and that did not boot into the SL DVD. It kept just restarting and booting into Windows 7. I tried ##### + ##### and I got a kernel panic. I will upload video of my installation and also pictures I will take of the kernel panic. I have also u\attached pictures of my system in CPUZ.

I hope that this is enough information, if more is needed please let me know. I want to thank you for reading my post and making a reply that will hopefully help me solve this issue.

-Thank You

P.S. I am kind of new to this. I have a client copy of SL and have burned it to a DL DVD. Also I have tried nawcomMOD CD but it is not working for me for some reason. It will not boot into the SL DVD. So I am basically stuck, I have no idea what to do next.

I'm so confused with this stuff. I just basically read the entire Wiki and I am still really confused. Am I able to do a retail install? Like if I buy the DVD from Apple will I be able to install it on my Laptop? Or will I need to download a distro and all the kexts, etc. Will I need to make my Laptop into a Hackintosh?

Thank You for your reply. I am sorry I uploaded images that were that big. I will crop them down. Thank You for the guide also!

I just got someone else opinion on the install. This is what they said. " Yes will work but the grapics will suck. no other way to put this dont do it. you will have trouble with resolution , playing any kind of movies ect because the piece of S intel video chip is not supported". Is this statement totally true?

Even if the statement is true or not, GFX shouldn't hold you off from installing OSX on ur machine. When there's a will, there's always a way. Solution: Go get a GFX card from your local computer store ;), or buy one from newegg.com. Nvidia or ATI, that's all up to you, but do the research first on which one would be best suited for your needs.

It's a hackintosh... you will run into problems sooner or later, and that's how you learn.

Yeah, I could buy one. But it's a latop. I thought those were expensive/a pain to install. But I'll give it a try I guess. haha
