I turn AHCI on (i'm already amazed at the benefits), but 10.6 sees my drives as externals and mounts them on the desktop. I know there is a fix for changing the uggo orange icons, but i want to have Finder show my actual external drives to my desktop without my internal drives being there as well.

Is this possible?

This one may be related...

Be careful with the "ESB2" method, there have been reports of mechanical drive failure, data loss and other cataclysmic events. Though it seems to work fine for some people.

I don't remember the details now but there are other ways to have everything that's connected to the ICHx set as "internal", making the icons gray again. You will, however lose AHCI hotplugging if you do this. Keep searching, the info is here.

I'm starting to forget stuff, my Hackintosh is working well for so long that I don't remember all the things I've done to fix it. We need a name for that condition, "Applesheimer" or something.. :(
