TheCrimsonWall
Hey everyone, I just wanted to announce the system that I was able to get up and running. Thank you everyone on these forums for being so helpful and pointing my in the right direction. It's definitely not the norm hackintosh set up but it works for ME, and I thought there'd be more guys out there in my same boat (which is rockin') It's an AMD X2 5200+ 2GB DD2800 Gigabyte 785G Mobo XFX Black Ed. ATI Radeon HD 5850 1GB Presonus InspireGT 1394 Method: 1. I used a macbook pro to install a vanilla 10.6.3 Snow Leopard system onto a USB Hard drive (easy as pie) 2. Ran the myHack installer to get chameleon and whatever else it does. 3. updated it to 10.6.4 4. installed the Legacy Kernel for 10.6.4 from kexts.com 5. ran ##### to install the Video driver (I used Uakari framebuffer) 6. Turned GraphicsEnabled=n 7. installed the new hard drive icon fix 8. installed IOATAFamily.kext for 10.6.4 from kexts.com 9. installed SleepEnabler.kext for 10.6.4 from kexts.com I DID NOT PATCH MY DSDT (should I have?) REBOOT (finally) Result: Bam! I've got Audio over 1394 (Out of box), Graphics (Dual Screen DVI, QE/CI/QuartzGL), Ethernet (out of box), SATA (Hardrives and DVD Burner), USB, seemingly everything. This thing is SCARY FAST! Issues: -The built-in video card (ATI 4200) doesn't work (at the same time?) I've seen kexts for 48x0 series but what would I use for 4200? and can I get HDMI Audio? or HDMI Audio on the 5850? -Video playback is choppy in Chrome/Firefox... Safari seems to be OK. -Video playback stalls in VLC, sometimes leaves VLC not responding. (TOTAL BUZZKILL) -Audio playback in Logic can have glitches, CPU meter shows very erratic jumps. (very low to very high) -Once and a while I get a kernel panic (like when I try to run iStat)
dothacker
so your main boot drive is the external HDD?
