I know mac specific software can be run on a hackintosh,

but what about mac specific hardware

has anyone had any success with an apogee soundcard on firewire

or any dsp cards such as the uad quad (PCI)

or an ssl duende (firewire).. i know thats not mac specific but i would also be interested in finding out

many firewire and usb sound cards works properly on hackintosh as they do on original mac. For the pci i don't know. I'll buy soon a m-audio usb card that works on windows and macintosh booth, a guy that use it on hackintosh is ready to swear that works like a charm :(

They work great if your system works great, but for Firewire audio/video interfaces you'd want a Firewire 800 interface with Texas Instruments chipset to ensure stability.

yes i see what you are saying providing, my system work's, fine

Ill take that on board when i build my hackintosh.

perhaps i should rephrase my question,

Is anyone currently running an Apogee Ensemble and SSL Duende succesfully with a hackintosh?

If so what is their set up, hardware and software OS?

By the way thanks guys for such a speedy reply :)

much appreciated

I've installed UAD PCI and various RME and Apogee interfaces on {censored}loads of different motherboards with no problems, as long at they meet the system requirements everything should be alright. Basically, if you have a PCIe soundcard you need a motherboard with PCIe slot (like 99.9% of today's motherboards) and if you have a FW one then you need a motherboard with FW interface or a FW card (preferably with TX chipset) etc...
