HamNCheese Posted October 29, 2010 Share Posted October 29, 2010 Hi all, I just went through hell trying to diagnose a new issue in 10.6.4 related to the dreaded HDCP over HDMI/DVI handshake issue. I solved this once before with my 9800GTX+, but it bit me in the ass again. This time I took it a step further.... Right now I have the following: Gigabyte p55m mobo (16x + 4x PCIe slots) 1x GeForce 9400 GT (on the 16x slot), connected to a 32" 1920x1080 HDTV display via DVI to HDMI cable 1x GeForce 9500 GT (on the 4x slot), connected to 2x Acer 24" 1920x1080 displays via DVI I solved the various dual-card issues by removing all NVidia injection and going straight for gfx strings. My question is this: The DVI to HDMI conversion is always what gets me. I downgraded from the 9800GTX+ since the 9600 and lower series cards do not suffer from the same issues regarding HDCP. I realize that I could run the dual DVI displays on my 9800GTX+ (or even my 9800GT) - but I'm looking for an upgrade for the primary card (which connects via DVI to HDMI.) So... 1) What's the best card I can get (reasonably priced) that will support DVI to HDMI (w/ HDCP) *or* straight HDMI output to this 32" primary display? I'm looking to avoid the HDCP lockups, so no 8x00 or 9x00 cards will work. 2) Do cards with *real* HDMI outputs have the same issue, or is this only a DVI -> HDMI w/HDCP issue? 3) Given that I have gone through the pain of swapping cards, and doing GFX strings, is anyone in a similar situation that needs help getting their dual-card setup up and running? 4) Please don't quote the "use search" mantra. I have spent the last 5 days going through posts on virtually every forum on the topic: Insanelymac, aquamac, tonyosx, netkas, etc. All forums are full of junk threads going back to the same old "how do I run dual cards" issues going back to 10.4. Anyway, thanks for all the help on this forum - this is by far the best hackintosh community out there. Kudos... lovetoby Posted November 13, 2010 Share Posted November 13, 2010 hi ive got a similiar problem, so would love to get an answer... ive gto 3 g92 cards, running fine with >10.6.2 @vga only (via efi or dsdt) running with <=10.6.2 dvi-dvi or dvi-hdmi is working perfect... so running at vga only is not a solution for me... maybe someone knows an answer to get this(rom files or enabler) working with 2 or more gpu cards...
