Spoor
I successfully installed 10.6.4, but when I boot it basically gets past the apple screen with logo then my screen just goes. It is not an issue with my monitor as I have tried multiple screens. Donw35
did you switch from the DVI to the VGA, you have to reboot to see. I have the same card and only the VGA port works Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/235588-gigabyte-ga-x58-usb3-8600gt/#findComment-1571737 Share on other sites

Spoor
yes. i've tried my acer monitor which is vga-dvi and my sony tv which is hdmi-dvi. neither work. i believe it may be a problem with the mobo as i have used the 8600gt in OSX before successfully. Spoor
I believe the problem is down to my motherboard. But the board similar to it (GA-X58A-UD3R) is pretty close, mine just has USB3 as well. So surley this cannot be a problem? the X-58A-UD3R works perfectly but mine does not. applebot
Spoor - I'm pretty sure your 8800GT is good and you have a kext issue because the apple logo screen loads, but when those kexts load up, you've lost the screen. Boot verbose mode and see if you can at least access the system to update the kext (using NVInject or NVKush) and try again. If not, swap out video cards (pref something w/ VGA) and try again. hope that help a bit!
