Jwoofter
Hey all This is my first attempt at OSx86 and I would like to get it running lol so here's the LD if somone could help me diagnose the problem I'd much appreciate it! I'm using iDeneb 1.3 Mac OS X 10.5.5 and got the usual prob of the infinite apple loop...so I booted with -v and here's what I got: My computer is an old 3.2GHZ Pentium 4 HP Media Center that I have hooked up in the kitchen. It has 512 megs ram and a 200GB HDD that dual boots ubuntu 10.10 and Windows 7. So far I haven't changed any settings in the BIOS or anything like that, I've just been going on what I've read here on InsanelyMac. Anybody with the smarts to know whats wrong, enlighten me? Thanks! pwadoc
It looks like OS X is having trouble with your USB bus. Are you trying to boot from a USB device, a SATA drive, an IDE drive? Jwoofter
Hmmm I'm not trying to boot from usb, I'm using the ideneb CD I burned and my HDD is ATA but that's basically the same as SATA, right? ATA is actually IDE. I know it's a bit confusing. You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_ATA Parallel ATA, which just ATA, is also known as IDE. Serial ATA, or SATA, is the bus type you want to be using. I'm not sure if your motherboard has a SATA bus, but getting the OS X installer to work properly with IDE drives is a challenge. I would search the forums for help with getting IDE drives to work. I wasn't even able to get Snow Leopard to see the IDE bus until after I had successful installed the OS on a SATA drive, and installed a kext that got it to work. pwadoc
Darn! Learned something new I guess. It is possible though? I believe it is technically possible to install to an IDE drive. I would search around on this forum, and see if you can find a method. Jwoofter
One last question. When looking through some old posts I found this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3834 he says he installed Tiger with no problems on an HP media center m480n, that's exactly my PC! Does Tiger have support for IDE drives? What programs are available to install Tiger i.e. #####, iDeneb, iPC, etc.?
