PGHammer
I have a Visiontek HD5450 (known to me as such) that is identifiying itself as an *HD4890* in SL (iAtkos S3 V2) 10.6.3 with the 10.6.4 Combo Update applied (along with latest Chameleon 2.0 RC5). Only System Profiler gets it wrong; everything else matches up with Windows 7. However, the EDID data for the display is also broke (as in there isn't any) - again, this is just on the Hack side of things Here's the reason why i know it's *not* an HD4890: 1. The HD4890 series invariably requires two SATA-power connectors (this card has none). 2. There is no such critter as a passive-cooled HD4890 (on the other hand, thanks to their power-sipping ways, most HD5450 designs, including the 1 GB versions, are passive-cooled, including this one). 3. I have the ROM that I pulled from the card (via Windows 7 x64, which is on a separate drive, as opposed to merely a different partition). Would a boot back into 7 fix the mis-identification issues (and hopefully straighten out the EDID issues as well)?
George20
It's obvious HD5450 is NOT HD4890. It's simply matter of wrong kext or method to get this card working. Anyway, I'm interesting in buying this card. It would be great to get QE/CI on this.
