Jbbrack03
I've been following a lot of topics on here and I hope that I can get this working on my PC. I'm trying to install Iatkos S3 V2 10.6.3 on my PC. Here are my specs: Intel Celeron 347 (3.0 Ghz) Intel D945GTP Mobo - i945P/PL/G/GZ chipset - Intel 82801GB(ICH7/R) Southbridge - 2 GB RAM - ATI Radeon HD 3400 Video Card - Intel Pro/100 VE Network Adapter I am able to boot into the installer. I am booting with default settings (only changed to 32-bit boot). When it boots up, I get the chameleon bootlauncher and I select Snow Leopard. The Apple Screen Flashes and it reboots again. I've tried -s, -x, -v, and busration=6. I've tried reinstalling about 4 times now. I'm not sure what I need to do to get this to work correctly. I've researched and my CPU is compatible and so is my mobo. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong or what settings I need for my hardware? Jbbrack03
Whats your chameleon boot loader version? rc5? That's an area where I'm a little confused. I'm not checking the chameleon V4 or V5 option under customization. I'm just leaving it on the default setting (don't remember what it is off the top of my head). But when it boots up, I do get a chameleon symbol in the middle of my screen with 3 icons under it. I'm not sure if I've got this all correct. To my understanding, chameleon is the bootup program that starts OSX. When I first booted off of the OSX DVD, it looked like chameleon started up (I saw my windows, and an option to install). I'm getting that same screen now when I boot without the DVD in the drive. I have the option to click an icon to start windows, or I can click an icon to start OSX. I'm not sure if that is the chameleon that you're talking about. I didn't intentionally install chameleon during the OSX setup. There were options under the bootloader customization to selected either chameleon 4 or 5, but I didn't select either of those. Do you think that the bootloader is the issue, or maybe I need to try a different kernel? EDIT: Here's a little more info on what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to setup a dualboot with Windows 7. Windows 7 was already installed on my machine. I shrunk the win7 parition and left it as unallocated space (about 110 GB). When I started up the OSX Installer, I chose the disk doctor option and formated the unallocated space as an OSX Format. It showed up as compatible. Then I opened the customize option. Under the bootloader, I checked off the 32-bit option. That's the only thing that I've changed so far. EDIT #2: Ok, I actually was able to boot it up after installing again. So I'm now able to boot into Snow Leopard and Windows. But, it doesn't detect my ethernet card and my max resolution is 1024x768. So I'm guessing that my video card needs a driver as well. Everything else appears to be working awesome. I'll make a seperate post about my driver questions... westwaerts
yes chameleon is the bootloader to start OSX. You get it on Install and then evrytime you boot up freshly. it is not very clever to install to systems on one HD ( Win7 and OSX) OSX works better with GUID Tables and HFS+ formatted disks in AHCI SATA Mode. WIN works with MBR on ntfs. maybe you have to change some BIOS Options to get it work, if you booted with -v flag, you have messages displayed, what are they saying ? I actually got it to work without any flags. All I did was change the kernel to the second one in the list and it worked like a charm. I still haven't figured out how to get my desktop to extend, but everything else is working. I appreciate the insight!
