Jorge Espinal
Hi netadam, I have a laptop with pretty the same, and i have half Snow Leopard working!! and I keep researching so this is that I did so far: (*)you need another machine with any version of the Mac OS to make the restore!!! 1. Download the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Retail DVD on the internet 2. Download the NawCOM CD and Burn it with Nero or another 3. Download the Snow Leopard 10.6.5 Combo Update 4. Restore the Snow Leopard DMG or ISO into an USB HD or PENDRIVE 5(*). When the DMG or ISO is restored navigate in it to /System/Library/Extensions/ and delete the "IOFireWireFamily.kext" file, this will avoid the kernel panic (you will dont have firewire but the system will boot at least) 6. Now then boot your laptop with NawCOM CD and connect the USB drive that have SL (if you need boot with busratio=20 or cpus=1 do it) but first try with out it 7. When NawCOM CD boot choose the USB drive that have SL and hit enter 8. The installation will go with no errors so far, but when the installation tell that we have some seconds to restart the pc run the terminal on the utilities menu and do the next: cd /Volumen/"Your Macos Drive"/System/Library/Extensions/ and delete the "IOFireWireFamily.kext" file once again with rm -R IOFireWireFamily.kext you could do ls command to display the files and copied and pasted if you want 9. now restart the pc Post intallation work: 1. Boot with NawCOM CD then select the laptop harddrive where the macos is installed (it will boot without video drivers) 2. Install the Chamaleon Boot loeader RC5 rev. 643 or newer you can download it here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075 3. for Video to work you have to do the next: You must install 10.6.5 combo update but you have to be carefull because this update install the FireWire that will give you KP, so you have to monitor the update installation and when the installation says: Moving the files you have to open the terminal and search for the IOFireWireFamily.kext and delete it before the installation status says: Registring Files or so so to delete the file you have to do: a). cd /System/Library/Extensions/ . ls (to look the file) c). sudo rm -R IOFireWireFamily.kext (must be admin rights) 4. Wait that the update complete (do not restart when it say jut hold) download and install the NVidia driver here http://www.tonymacx86.com/Public/tonymacx8...IDIA-Update.zip 5. Install PS2 for mouse and PS2 for keyboard (see the attachments ) 6. If you want battery work install voodooBattery.kext (see the attachments) for those steb you will going to need KextHelper just download it from internet before you restar make sure you have: EvOreboot.kext FakeSMC.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext in the /Extra/Extensions/ Folder if not see Extra.zip in the attachments 7. Restart the pc (I dont know if your videocard is compatible but try it) mine is GeForce GTX 460M and it works I hope this help you to move on!!! sorry for my bad english!! je je je Keyboard___Mouse.zip VoodooBattery.kext.zip Extra.zip

whityini
Hi everybody, I also have a Qosmio X500 and I have installed SL 10.6.5 following the steps indicated by Jorge (many thanks). The result is the following: keyboard working Internal pad not working. I use an USB mouse Graphic board working out of the box after the Combo 10.6.5 update (no additional NVidia drivers needed) Sound board working even if the speaker icon is shadowed Ethernet board is working but only for the local connection. No internet connection Wireless board not working. I have tried an additional USB wifi card Linksys WUSB100 I used with the previous Toshiba X200 with the same result as the ethernet board: local connection but not internet Another strange point is that if the internal pad start to work both the ethernet board and the USB wifi doesn't work at all. I have also have no Bluetooth, do you? Waiting your comments. Andrea

hdace
I have an X505-Q896 with a NVIDIA GTX 460M, and nothing I've tried will get it running with proper resolution. It's stuck at 1280x720, which is pretty pathetic since I shelled out for a laptop with a native res of 1920x1080. I've tried much of the advice in this thread, many other threads on this and other websites, nothing. I've even tried DSDT with no luck. I realize my card may just be too new. Anyone with advice for me, much appreciated.

hdace
Have you tried NVEnabler64.kext? Not sure if I got round to trying that, but succeeded getting graphics working by using a special version of efi studio. Now can't get sound working either. It seems to be a Conexant driver in Windows7, and I've tried voodoo & azalia and a bunch of other kexts and tricks that haven't worked. Any advice?
