x58hack
I am running SL 10.6.4 with all patches on X58-UD3R rev. 2.0 with no problems, everything works BUT I have 12GB RAM installed which shows correctly in System Profiler. Activity Monitor, however, shows only 8GB available. I checked BIOS settings, reset CMOS, searched forum and couldn't find a solution. I only found a user who said he removed CPU, started to boot (!!), put processor back in and that it helped him. Kinda weird if you ask me. Is there any other knowledge available? Thanks! XLR
Did you applied the necessary DSDT fixes before installing the RAM, or after? x58hack
Did you applied the necessary DSDT fixes before installing the RAM, or after? I had RAM installed first and did kakewalk vanilla 10.6.3 install, then installed newest chameleon and extras per instruction from X58 support thread 1. Install Chameleon RC5 2. AppleHDA.kext needs to be dragged on top of Kext Utility, let it finish. 3. Copy and paste my Extra folder, replacing your current Extra folder. 4. Reboot and you are done. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=78388 now there was a strange event down the road when I was working my Mac froze. After reboot I realized I only see those 8GB in AM but I don't remember if I had 12GB before or not. I'd almost say I did but honestly I don't recall. BUt again System profiler shows correctly 12GB. I did cleared CMOS and set up bios again to no result. Thanks for help. Install is smooth and everything works like a charm. 9984 geekbench with base settings. Let's OC it now Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/234838-x58-ud3r-12gb-ram-installed-activity-monitor-shows-8gb/#findComment-1567332 Share on other sites
