Howdy,

I'm guessing that you guys are tired of these kind of gear topics, so sry in advance.

My old macbook pro is going down, I use it for music production, but its not cooping with my needs anymore. So here I am.

I want to buy gear that will give me a good and stable mac for music production. Since I can get good price on PC-parts, I'm looking at this option now - a hackintosh.

My must list-

1. The MB must be able to work with Firewire, since my soundcard is connected via FW.

2. I want to use snow leopard.

3. Quad core as a minimum. I also need a lot of RAM.

How about ASUS P6T SE - as a motherboard? (Ive heard that it will work well).

I have a spare 4850 gfx-card, will that be compatable?

Whats the main prefered installation method? I have a SL-dvd already.

Any tips or suggestions would be nice. Thanks!

have a nice day /Ji

check my signature, all the things below work well together, though i personally would recommend that you stay away from ATI for this sort of thing, because the general gist i get is that they are harder to work with (less compatible in OSX)

Hey JB, thanks for your fast response!

Seems like you have the gearlist I was aming for. You have the deluxe MB, maybe its better?

Have you tried FW? Anything that dosent work compared to a regular mac?

What installation method did you use?

I thought, since the new imacs use 4850, that it would work.
