Hi folks. I have recently moved over to the Mac world from Windows, and while I like the UI/usability the graphics card selection seems to be limited and confusing.

I would like to take advantage of Nvidia's CUDA architecture for physics simulations on my mac. My old video card just died (NVIDIA GeForce GT 120) on my Mac Pro 2009, and I was thinking it would be a good time to upgrade to something more powerful. However, it seems that current generation CUDA cannot be had without either (a) money, or (B) pain. Here are the options I'm aware of:

(1) NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac by PNY: $1500 - $1800 (too expensive! - seriously, I could buy a 2nd computer and run simulations in parallel)

(2) GeForce GTX 285 for Mac: $??? (Out of stock everywhere, probably for good)

(3) GeForce GTX 465, 470, 480: $250-$450 Affordable, but must be hackintoshed! [see here] - Painful, I have never tried to mod any GPU, much less on an OS I am unfamiliar with.

(4) Geforce GTX 460 SLI - Recommend as a good bang-for-buck by Toms Hardware, but apparently not possible on a mac. I also don't know whether SLI is even supported by mac MBs.

So my question is whether I've missed something out there that is (a) affordable and (B) easy to implement? Thanks!
