Hi guys

Please can someone help me?

My hackintosh has been working fine since I built it. However on friday, after being around 4 months old, it stopped connecting to the net. Network preferences says that it can't connect to the internet because of a 'self assigned ip'. It's connected via ethernet to my bthomehub 2.0 (was version 1.0, see below). Two other computers in the household connect fine via the same way (one is running snow leopard). Also, running windows 7 on the same machine with the same hardware, it is able to connect to the net.

Specs:

Snow leopard10.6.4

2.81 Quad-core Intel

4gb ram

Asus p7p55d mobo ethernet adaptor = Realtek 8112L

ATI 5870

Installed kext: Realtek R1000SL.kext (from #####)

I have tried everything I can think of including:

*Restart comp

*Restart/ Powercyle router

*Tried/swapped ends of different ethernet cables

*Renew DHCP

*Ordered a new router from BT (upgrade bthomehub from 1.0 to 2.0).

*Mac address spoofing

*connecting to my macbook to share an internet connection

*Installing/trying new kext

*Resetting PRAM

Can anyone please shed some light on the situation?

Thanks!

Thank you for your reply.

Still doesn't work. I ran it a couple of times, restarted. Renewed DHCP etc.

Still self assigned IP :(

I looked in \system\library\extensions\ and found that there was a modified kext at the time the internet went down ... lspcidrv.kext . Could this mean anything?

Also, I can't ping or visit any site by entering the ip. I can't even ping devices on my local network.

open safari ,write google ,whatever ip number,if you load the page ,you might have incorrect dns in your router.

I typed in the ip of google and would not connect
