size_t
I am a software engineering student thats taking an apple embeded development class that starts next thursday. I need help fast to get a mac osx86 10.6.2 + system up and running so i can use ios4.1 I will be very thankful if you can help me. I am trying to instal iATKOS S3 v2 on my pc. i also tried hazards version with worse results. It just keeps going back to the f8 boot / load screen. On the boot menu I hit f8 and i type in -v busratio=24 and that seems to get me through the installation. I did everything correctly by partitioning and setting my video card and everything. However, when it boots i get a crossed out circle over the apple logo. I have successfully installed iATKOS v7. Heres my specs. Dell xps 410 Board: Dell Inc. 0WG855 Dell Inc. Dell DXP061 32 bit Nvidia card 2.13 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo I attached a screenshot of cpu-z I have tried everything i can think of i have tried -v -x -x32 arch=i386 i tried -v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 if i dont enter anything, it just hangs trying to find root device. I also have a laptop hp dv6 with intel core i5 cpu 2.4 ghz 6 gig 64-bit ati graphics I get the same exact results. I would be happy getting it installed on either system

I need help fast to get a mac osx86 10.6.2 + system up and running so i can use ios4.1I will be very thankful if you can help me. If its that important I would buy a real Mac, second hand maybe. Even get a loan. Getting a Hack up and running means research and hard work. I did everything correctly by partitioning and setting my video card and everything. However, when it boots i get a crossed out circle over the apple logo. I have successfully installed iATKOS v7. Boot in verbose -v and post a picture or write down and post the errors. What Kernel did you choose? Have you tried Legacy Kernel? What settings in bios have you picked? ACHI? I also have a laptop hp dv6 with intel core i5 cpu 2.4 ghz 6 gig 64-bit ati graphics Thats been done, try this search http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&...q=&gs_rfai=
Sefrez
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the cross symbol means a kernel panic. Ive gotten it too. Though I don't get it when using the kalyway iso. I can install the first bit where you get everything copied over to the hard drive, but once you have to restart and then boot into the installation to finalize it, my PC just reboots. So in other words, I can't finalize the installation. Who knows, maybe it's a kernel panic too.
size_t
i have tried all the provided kernals. I can get through the installation but when it boots up the first tie i get the apple logo and then after awhile i get a crossed out circle. is the kalyway iso atleast 10.6.2? i need atleast that to run ios4.1 I got the iatkos v7 to instal and work perfectly but its too old. i think i am probobly going to have to give up and drop the class. I cant afford $1000 on a mac just for one class.
size_t
@Dellmantt, i have tried to try that guide with the link you provided. This guy did it with the same laptop specs i have. I will have to try it tomorrow though. I will post my results.

Gringo Vermelho
I hit f8 and i type in -v busratio=242.13 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo / intel core i5 cpu 2.4 ghz If I'm understanding this correctly (I've never had to use the busratio flag) assuming it's running at 1066MHz FSB, the correct busratio for your Core 2 Duo E6600 would be 9: 266/2133 ~ 9 But you shouldn't have to use the busratio flag with a Core 2 Duo CPU at all. Here's a table that shows the correct bus ratios for Core ix CPUs: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=642 As you can see (and unless that info is outdated or wrong) you're using the wrong bus ratio value. 24 is for the 3.20 GHz model 650. size_t
It wont let me set the newly created partition to active. So, there's now way to boot into it. Unless, i use easybcd?
Gringo Vermelho
What "it"?
size_t
I am using windows 7 to partition. I can partition, but setting the partition to active there is no menu when you right click the partition. I have used partitioning software also. Gringo Vermelho
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can set two active partitions on the same disk from within Windows. Windows requires its own partition to be active. Try leaving the partition blank, then use Apple Disk Utility on your install media to do the rest. I highly recommend that you install OS X on a separate hard drive.
size_t
All the guides i have ever seen said make the second partition active so that the mac will boot. Then, windows disk to boot into windows . than, use easybcd to dual boot both! I dont have two hard drives on this lappy

If your computer hangs up trying to search root device during installation itself then its because your HDD and/or DVD drive are not recognized by SL. I had the same problem and I finally ended up installing SL on a USB HDD from that USB HDD itself.
