muddi
Update: read my post below, got past this problem, now having a keyboard problem. Hello, this is my first attempt at hackintosh. After searching a lot and trying a few distros I figured Lawless would be good for me, since I own an AMD Phenom, so I got it and went on to install it. So I boot the DVD and surprised enough it installed with no problems at all, I created my partition and kept all settings as default, except for choosing a driver for my video card. Now, since I had Win7 before this, it screwed my MBR, which I fixed later and used EasyBCD to add an option for Mac on boot screen. With that done, I went on to start the Mac OS for the first time. And that's where I got stuck at: after loading chameleon boot screen, I choose my Mac installation but then nothing happens, it just freezes. All it says on screen is: Loading Darwin/x86 Loading kernel mach_kernel I tried loading with -v -f, as I saw on the tutorial for Lawless, and all it did was print: Loading Darwin/x86 Loading kernel mach_kernel Loaded HFS+ File:[mach_kernel] 4096 bytes from 435bdb0 Loaded HFS+ File:[mach_kernel] 5025944 bytes from 435bdb0 And there it freezes again. So I am wondering, did I do anything wrong or should I boot with some special option? OSx86 used: LawlessPPC-Leo-10.5.4-Phenom&AMD My hardware: Hard-drive: SATA Samsung 250GB Processor: AMD Phenom X4 9550 (SS1, 2, 3, 4A) MB: Asus M3A78 Chipset ATI 770 Memory: 2x DDR2 4GB Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS PS/2 Keyboard USB Mouse Would really appreciate the help. If any more information is needed I'll post back. Sorry for any spelling mistakes, I'm not american. Update: read my post below, got past this problem, now having a keyboard problem. muddi
Ok, so I got it working after realizing that it had something to do with my hard drives boot order. I changed the order on my BIOS setup and I was able to boot. Now, the problem is, my keyboard doesn't work. After a lot of searching I found out that an USB Mouse + a PS/2 Keyboard causes a problem. Since my motherboard doesn't have a ps/2 mouse input, getting a ps/2 mouse is not an option. So again I went on searching for another solution, found a few websites (including here) saying that I needed to remove ApplePS2Mouse.kext and ApplePS2Trackpad.kext. So I did this (after a lot of workarounds, since my keyboard doesn't work and I couldn't type anything) but this didn't work for me! My keyboard still doesn't work and I can't log in because I can't type my Apple ID with no keyboard. I used a ubuntu live CD to check if the operation of renaming the files from *.kext to *.bak for them to not load was successful, and they are renamed properly, only ApplePS2Keyboard.kext remains. So, anybody got a sollution for USB Mouse + PS/2 Keyboard? I already tried the ones I found with no luck.
avinash_4_ever
the only option is to get a usb keyboard which is the best option in my opinion and is also future proof cos apple will never use ps/2 devices in future :-)
