markusm
Hi there! Trouble at sea, so I'll just start with my spec, and then my problems: Intel Core 2 Quad - Q8200 - 2,33 ghz Intel X48 Chipset 8 GB 1066 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM 1 GB ATI Radeon 3870 X2 2xSATA 500gb drives (unsure about the manufacturer, but I suspect WD?) So, this is what's up: Trying to set up a PC I don't really use, to OSX Snow Leopard, and I get my hopes up as the install goes smoothly and everything seems OK - until I install ##### or MyHack after the first boot of SL. Then it just won't boot again. After installing, I get just a black screen with a _ blinking when I try to boot from the disk, and if I boot in safe mode through Empire Efi, I get Kernel panic (see attached picture). I've tried Tonymacx86's guide (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/#####-#####-install-mac-os-x-on.html), both the ##### way, and from a downloaded DSDT (DSDT-Intel-BOXDP55KG-1.aml). Then I tried the MyHack from Thumbdrive way (http://andrewmajot.com/blog/2010/08/10-6-snow-leopard-pc/) Now -- I have no idea what's going wrong. A few things I suspect: - I'm unable to specify AHCI-mode in the Bios Setup (Dell Bios A01), however I seem to have read that the RAID-setup for my chipset (Intel X48) should be in AHCI automatically? - There don't seem to be any DSDT-files specifically for the X48-chipset. Is this simply incompatible? If anyone has any ideas, I'm eternally greatful Sincerely, Markus
enochpc
Have you tried booting with the CPUS=1 flag? It looks like the error is about misreading the number of cores on your chip. Not positive, but worth a shot.
markusm
Ok tried to disable the multiple cores. Still get Kernel-panic, but with slightly different parameters:
