muckler
SO. Just got my new notebook. specs that I'm aware of: 7450 Core2Duo Intel 240M Nvidia 1024 mb Atheros 9825 Wireless ??????? Sound (662? 663? help!!) Installed 10.6.3 retail after using latest empire EFI to boot up. System booted from HD right away, but gphx were shoddy 1024x768 and not accellerated. Installed nawcoms latest MyHack 1.1.4 and gphx work smooth! Ethernet works, the only things I cant get pumpin are wifi and sound. Tried VoodooHDA but no go, might I have to edit the .kext in some way? Also, gonna try a dsdt hack to get the Atheros wifi to work, someone posted something somewhere around here saying it would work. Pardon my nonspecificity. Anyaway. If anyone can tell me what sound codec this notebook has I would be very grateful... and more infos regarding functional Atheros 9825s would be kewl also. still. so far this notebook seems like a very nice hackintosh platform indeed! Dual booting Windows 7 also! wheeeee
muckler
Just thought I'd update.... I just did a complete reinstall. This time using Nawcom's BootCD ver 3.1 which allows installation from Vanilla SL DVD onto MBR partition. Triple booting SL, WIn7 & Ubuntu!! But still not perfect. 1. Nawcom Boot CD -> SL Disk Utility on retail disk --> partition drive into 3 parts (for triple boot). Make Mac partition HFS+, the other 2 FAT32. I put mac partition first, then windoze, then Ubuntu. Not sure if it matters. 2. Install SL onto HFS+ partition. Didn't bother customiozing Nawcoms install features. 3. Have 10.6.5 combo update on USB stick. Run it as soon as install is finished. 4. Install #####. Google it. Check #####! 5. Reboot. Et voila!! OSX works... at least superficially. graphics and ethernet are ok. sound & wireless not so, but thats a different story 6. Installed Win7 on 2nd partition, format to NTFS while at it. No probs here. 7. Install EasyBCD. Set up Windows & Mac partitions 8. Install Ubunto 10.10 to 3rd partition, in installer subdivide last partition into ext4 partition for the system and 4 gb swap partition. Make sure to install the Ubuntu grub bootloader onto the Ubuntu partition, or it will mess with EasyBCD. 9. Reboot into Windows, add Ubuntu partition to EasyBCD. And there you go, triple boot. Still fiddling with VoodooHDA and whatnot for sound, and the Atheros9825 just seems screwed as far as n wifi goes, b/g works ok. well... once I get it sorted. sorry about the non techy stuff, I'm just happy I got it this far. cheers ,
