gfindlay1
There has been a few other topics that discuss this, but no one has come to a solution, and it's the main reason why many wanted to set up an OSx86 machine in the first place: To edit video. I have the Sony HDR-HC1 HDV Camcorder. In english: In records HDV (High Definition) video. Normal DV video is 720x480, HDV is 1920x1080. There's a big difference in quality. Needless to say, I want to take full advantage of the HDV codec on my OSx86 machine using Final Cut Pro. Here's the problem: HDV video looks SOLID GREEN on OSx86. On my Powerbook G4 Titanium it works flawlessly. What's wrong with the "AppleHDVCodec.component"? I even tried copying over the exact file from my Powerbook and replacing the one on my OSx86 box. Nothing. Here's a link to a sample HDV .mov Quicktime file if you'd like to test on your system: http://www.ivymedia.ca/anonymous/bear.mov (15MB) ^ You'll need to have Final Cut Pro or Express or Studio installed for Quicktime to play it (because that's where the HDV codec installation comes from) I know there's lots of people out there who want to see a solution to this, please someone help! gfindlay1
I just did some testing, and here's the new weirdest thing: I imported HDV video to my OSx86 Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 timeline, which was, as you see it above, ALL GREEN, then EXPORTED it as a NEW HDV 1080i quicktime movie, transferred it back to my Powerbook, and lo and behold, it plays normally. SO The only thing going wrong on the OSx86 box is the PLAYBACK is green. The output is obviously ok. Just the playback. Any thoughts?
