HomicidalSpoon
Hello, I just installed Snow Leopard off the retail disc and have it booting and running great for the most part. I have googled many times and i have searched this forum board and have come up with not a whole lot of luck on my current problem, I have not been able to find a Kext to install for my wireless card, it is a Realtek 8185 IEE 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Controller. I did come across this post http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t=#entry1445345 and i tried to copy what the poster did and i got SL to recognize that there was a network adapter installed, but it brings it up as an Ethernet connection, because that is what the Kext was designed for i am assuming, anyways, I found a Kext for this wireless card, here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...hl=Realtek+8185 , but it was designed for Leopard not Snow Leopard, i tried installing it, it came with an installer package i tried that first and then extracted the kext itself and tried to install that and no dice it didn't do anything, I have come across people who have updated older Kexts designed to work with Leopard and modified them to work with Snow Leopard, and i was wondering if it would be possible to do the same with this kext? thanks for all the help in advance! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks goes to Gringo Vermelho, he helped me a lot with my OS X install and i have followed more of his guides to get my hackintosh running than i like to admit, thanks man. HomicidalSpoon
I tried to do that and it recognized that some hardware was there but since its an ethernet controller, it says it is ethernet and not a wireless card, is there a way for me to upgrade the kext i have for Leopard so that i can install it on Snow Leopard? J.B
did you try using 802.kext (or something like that) instead of ethernet.kext, you need to put your specific device ID in the wireless kext
