alexs
Weird thing happens on my Toshiba laptop with a core duo. When I swith OSes (dual boot b/w XP and 10.4.7) my clock sometimes (most of the time, not always) jumps forward 6 hours. when the OS syncs with the time server, the time goes back to normal, but I can see it in the logs in OSX, and I can see it on the clock in XP (it takes XP a couple of minutes to sync up) Any ideas? Its bizarre. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23127-time-shifting/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
XP and OSX store time in different ways. XP stores local time. OSX stores UTC (Greenwich) time and applies an adder for time zone. 1233666666
Is there anyway to change how XP acts? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23127-time-shifting/#findComment-153222 Share on other sites
Rammjet
There are 3 ways: 1) Get an app that sets the time off the internet 2) There is a batch script that can be run at startup to reset the time 3) There is a registry key that can be set, but this is an unsupported register and MS may change its behavior at any time, so this is not recommended. This link takes you to two other links which discuss 2) and 3) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry123785 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23127-time-shifting/#findComment-153228 Share on other sites

Rammjet
That works for a while and then fails. I forget the reason, but I believe it is covered in the links. belgrano
Maybe because windoze is unable to syncronize the time if it's more than a few minutes off. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23127-time-shifting/#findComment-153653 Share on other sites
