Hey all :D

is it possible to install SL on a USB drive and keep compatibility between Mac and PC - ie make it bootable from both Mac and PC? Also, can I do that from my Mac, provided I have a backup copy of SL and a second partition from which to boot the installer? And should I format the drive in HFS+? Or it's not necessary?

I understand this is not easy, but is it possible?

Thanks in advance

technically yes, it would be possible, however if you want to do this to be able to have a copy of OSX for you to boot on ANY machine (mac or PC) then it is almost impossible (if not impossible) because each machines hardware is different , it will require different kexts (to say the least), which defeats the point.

go for a linux live USB if you want something like that (use unetbootin)

Thanks for the reply. Well, the idea was to have like a backup in case something happens to the Mac, but as it's impossible to keep boot compatibility, keeping it bootable from Windows seems just fine. Using unetbootin will solve this? I mean, proceeding like a regular hackintosh (though I have not idea yet, will read the tutorials on the wiki) will work? Let me know if there could be any problem, as I haven't seen something like this anywere. Thanks in advance
