kbtarl
I have a dell dimension that I have used iportable now leopard to install and try and get it up and running. I had to install a wireless netcard after not getting my brodcom to work. I have the sound reconized using AD1986 Kext. It shows device, mic works, I can adjust slider but no sound from speakers. I have 6 jack ports on my sound card. Is it possible the speaker jack is not the same with this driver? How can I fix this?
Gringo Vermelho
Is it possible the speaker jack is not the same with this driver? Yes it's possible and very common. Start some audio playback and try all the other plugs.
kbtarl
Yes it's possible and very common. Start some audio playback and try all the other plugs. I will try that when I get home. If that is the case, is there a way to get the audio coming from the port that it normally does with PC? I would like to dual boot with Windows XP. Thanks for the help!@
Gringo Vermelho
That depends on the driver you're using, there might be a way of reconfiguring how it interprets which plugs belong to what I/O. You'll have to search and see what others have done. Or maybe there's a different driver available that has the configuration right. Or you can try to find if there's a way to reconfigure the plugs in Windows instead.

kbtarl
Yes it's possible and very common. Start some audio playback and try all the other plugs. Bingo!! It was configured for the digital plug and not the reg out rca jack. Now I've got another problem :-( Installed kext ati_x300_c0008.pkg for my video card and can only boot into safe mode. Video card looks great but in safe mode do not have audio or wireless. When I boot into regular mood the screen is all digital block noise....so close now so far away. can you remove kext pkg? What should I try? Anyone. I know this is not the video thread but it is just getting so frustrating. :-(
