another_earthling
Hi I keep on reading everywhere the one has to determine whether my PC is SSE2 or SSE3 by using the CPU Z tool. But no where is it mentioned on how to use this CPU Z tool to actually find out my CPU type. Also when I get to know my CPU type then how to decide whether to go in for OSX86 or not? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23004-how-to-use-cpu-z-to-determine-whether-my-pc-is-right-for-mac-install/ Share on other sites
rkwok
just download cpu-z and run it, the first page will give you all the information regarding your cpu, as for if you should go ahead or not, CPU is not the only factor, the chipsets of the mobo is as important or even more. so post the full specs, I am sure someone can give you more advice! gwprod12
like rkwok said, just google for cpu-z, download it, run it, and under CPU features (IIRC), it should say "mmx, etc etc etc sse2 (and maybe sse3)", Then you'll know. Or you could just say what CPU you have, and someone might be able to tell you. If you have a socket 775 CPU, it has sse3, Socket 478 maybe, socket A no. Socket 754 maybe. etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23004-how-to-use-cpu-z-to-determine-whether-my-pc-is-right-for-mac-install/#findComment-152329 Share on other sites
